Job summary

USD #246 Northeast Elementary in Arma, KS seeks an Instructional Paraeducator to assist teachers in supervising and supporting students with special needs in general and special education settings. This role involves adapting activities, supporting personal care, and participating in trainings to meet state requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 48 college hours or qualifying score on Master Teacher Online Exam within 90 days of employment.
• 20 hours per year of in-service training required.
• All paraeducator positions are non-exempt, at will.

Responsibilities

• Adapts and provides accommodations under supervision to support participation in class and resource activities.
• Assists students in and out of classroom, including packing backpacks and note taking.
• Addresses personal care needs to help students participate in school activities.
• Participates in trainings to meet state requirements and improve job performance.
• Collaborates with staff to support individual education plans and progress.
• Creates visual aids for students with visual impairments to aid learning.
• Implements educational and behavioral programming under supervision to develop skills.
• Assists students with challenging behaviors in line with policies and IEPs.
• Delivers instruction in individual and group activities to meet IEP goals.
• Maintains instructional materials and data sheets for progress tracking.
• Monitors students across environments to ensure safety and positive learning climate.
• Maintains confidentiality and supports a positive learning environment.

Education
