Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a middle school head coach to oversee growth and development of student athletes, emphasizing fundamental skills and overall student well-being. The role requires adherence to WIAA rules and school policies, with a strong focus on safety and daily practice leadership.

The head coach will promote sporting participation, organize practice sessions, and collaborate with athletic directors and staff to ensure a positive, educational coaching environment.

Qualifications

• One year of sport-specific playing and/or coaching experience in a secondary and/or post-secondary athletics program and/or related club coaching experience.
• Proven training and experience in the presentation of drills, safety factors, and proper application of skills.
• Completion of the National Federation Coaching Fundamentals Course to include passing the test.

Responsibilities

• Promote program within the school and encourage student participation.
• Hold daily practices and manage practice schedules.
• Provide safety training and maintain safety records, including basic first aid procedures.
• Attend building, district, and league meetings and report outcomes.
• Monitor equipment and facilities, and address safety concerns promptly.
• Coordinate program goals with assistant coaches and communicate expectations to players.
