Job summary

Arc of Acadiana seeks Direct Support Professionals to provide person-centered in-home and community-based support to adults with developmental disabilities in New Iberia, LA. You will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and help participants participate in community activities.

Flexibility across daytime, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts is offered, with emphasis on compassionate care, documentation accuracy, and teamwork within the agency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Related experience in human services preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to person-centered support and participant dignity.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support based on each participant’s goals, preferences, strengths, and routines.
• Assist with activities of daily living including personal care, meals, and household tasks.
• Encourage participants to make choices and engage in activities independently.
• Develop daily living, social, and community skills through positive teaching.
• Document and report participant progress and maintain confidentiality.
