Job summary

The Newark Board of Education invites qualified applicants for the position of Teacher of Computer Science. This is a ten-month instructional role based in Newark, NJ, reporting to the Principal and supported by Human Resource Services. A valid NJDOE certificate and a bachelor's degree (preferred) are required or specified by the NJDOE guidelines.

Salary ranges from $70,000 to $114,750 with full benefits; employees are part of the Newark Teacher's Union. Electronic applications are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Department of Education certificate or CE/CEAS as required.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred unless otherwise specified.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets students' needs, interests and abilities.
• Evaluates student progress and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communications skills and course elements as required by state law.
• Provides individual, small, and large group instruction to adapt the curriculum.
• Communicates with parents and pupil personnel staff on student progress.
• Makes and maintains appropriate attendance and inventory records.
