Responsibilities

• Implements the assigned program of study.

• Maintains classroom and professional skills.
• Teaches rules of conduct and behavioral expectations.
• Maintains order in the classroom and on the playground.
• Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
• Discusses pupils' academic and behavioral progress with parents.
• Keeps attendance and grade records as required by the school.
• Coordinates class field trips when applicable.
• Works cooperatively with the total staff.
• Maintains materials, equipment, and facilities.
• Promotes a neat, safe classroom environment and positive interactions.
• Encourages self-direction and motivation in students.
• Uses diverse materials and resources for instruction.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or special education director.
