Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Kansas is seeking an Employment Training Specialist in Wichita, KS. This role focuses on helping individuals facing barriers to employment navigate the job search, assess skills, identify opportunities, and provide job readiness training with ongoing support.

The position reports to the Community Employment Manager and involves collaboration with clients, guardians, case managers, and employers to secure meaningful employment and promote independence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Psychology, Social Services or other related fields preferred, not required. Will substitute 6 months of experience for every semester of college.
  • Experience working with I/DD preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screen.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and insurable.
  • Must have an operational cell phone.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a flexible schedule that may include some evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Conduct client intakes and assessments.
  • Provide and assist clients with job development, job prep and placement services.
  • Provide on-site job coaching to support the client as needed to address any barriers that may need to be addressed.
  • Provide long-term job retention and follow along services.
  • Collaborate with clients support team (Guardians, Case Managers, Counselors, Specialists, etc.).
  • Provide documentation and reporting as requested by VR, PRE ETS and STEPS programs.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the Community Employment Program.
  • Be responsible for requested monthly documentation as required by Goodwill, Vocational Rehabilitation, Pre ETS and STEPS.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for helping individuals, particularly those facing barriers to employment, successfully navigate the job search process and secure meaningful, sustainable employment. This role involves assessing clients' skills and needs, identifying appropriate job opportunities, providing job readiness training, and offering support throughout the employment journey. The Employment Training Specialist works closely with both clients and employers to ensure a successful match, while fostering independence, long-term career growth, and workplace success. JOB COMPETENCIES

Responsible for the implementation of the Community Employment Program. Develop work sites with business and industry. Intiate agreements with business & industry on the basis of their needs. Coordinate problem solving activities with referring agencies and seek necessary technical assistance. Be responsible for as requested monthly documentation as required by Vocational Rehabilitation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend weekly meetings as required.
  • Clock in and out of work efficiently.
  • Be responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of clients served.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and reports violations.
  • Supports mission statement and activities of other departments.
  • Supports accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to persons with disabilities and barriers to employment.
  • Complete required client progress notes and action plans per Vocational Rehabilitation, Pre ETS, and STEPS program standards.
  • Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records.
  • Be aware of public transportation options and how to use the successfully.
  • Provide transportation as needed to client assigned. (Temporary Transportation)
  • Keep and maintain detailed and accurate records of client's progress throughout the case.
  • Complete billing procedure by the end of the month.
  • Complete monthly training calendars and provide lessons for Job Club.
  • Assist people with filling out VR applications as needed.
  • Complete Basic ACRE's training.
  • Assume other responsibilities as requested by the Community Employment Manager.
