Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Kansas is seeking an Employment Training Specialist to provide comprehensive job search and job alignment activities within our day services department. The role includes coaching, placement and ongoing follow-along to help individuals with disabilities achieve their employment goals.

You will supervise and coordinate with the Employment Community Manager, supporting community-based job development and collaboration with local businesses.

Qualifications

GED or high school diploma is required plus additional experience in business, marketing, social services or other related fields.
Degree in Business, Marketing, Social Services, Special Education or other related field is preferred.
Experience working with I/DD persons is preferred.
A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive job search in job alignment activities, including job coaching, job placement and follow-along.
Work to fulfill Goodwill's mission through community employment programs and day services.
Coordinate with organizations and refer to Vocational Rehabilitation as needed.
Ensure safety, ethics, confidentiality and high-quality service delivery.
Drive to community and training locations to perform duties.

JOB COMPETENCIES:

Responsible for the implementation of the Community Employment Program. Develop work sites with business and industry. Intiate agreements with business & industry on the basis of their needs. Coordinate problem solving activities with referring agencies and seek necessary technical assistance. Be responsible for as requested monthly documentation as required by Vocational Rehabilitation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the implementation of the Community Employment Program.
Develop work sites with business and industry.
Initiate agreements with business and industry on the basis of their needs and the capability to meet those needs through the Community Employment Program.
Coordinate problem solving activities with referring agencies and seek necessary technical assistance to maintain employment.
Be responsible for a request monthly documentation as required by Vocation Rehabilitation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assume other responsibilities as requested by VP of Workforce Development.
Attend weekly meeting as required.
Be responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of clients served.
Adhere to all safety polices and reports violations.
Supports mission statement and activities of other departments.
Supports the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to persons with disabilities and barriers to employment.
Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records.
Provide and facilitate job club activities.
Driving to community and training locations to conduct job responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.
