The Arc of Chester County in West Chester, PA is seeking an Employment Training Specialist to provide creative and individualized employment-related services to candidates with disabilities, helping them craft resumes, find jobs, and train with employers across Chester and Delaware Counties.

Responsibilities include assessing candidates, developing job opportunities, coordinating training and follow-up, and maintaining participant records; requires strong organization and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred in Vocational / Rehabilitation counseling, Education, Psychology, or related field and/or experience with persons with disabilities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and writing skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on agency policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in implementing the organization’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
  • Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
  • Obtain employment opportunities by promoting CES services and developing partnerships with employers.
  • Create and maintain work schedules according to caseload and team needs.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze participant information for employment planning.
  • Evaluate and determine matches between candidates and opportunities.
  • Provide counseling, support and instruction during the job search process.
  • Provide one-on-one training at the work site with ongoing follow-up services.
  • Submit required documentation timely, including notes, reports, time/attendance and mileage.
  • Develop progress reports with the program director as requested.
  • Comply with agency policies, waiver requirements, laws and plans.
  • Prepare for and participate in required meetings (team, service plans, committees).
  • Guide participants to access benefits, unemployment, and related issues as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, communities, coordinators, counselors, participants and families.
  • Maintain participants’ records and job placement information.
  • Adjust schedules and work evenings/weekends/holidays if needed for site support.
  • Participate in Arc sponsored events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic job coach (Employment Training Specialist), who will provide creative and individualized employment-related services to candidates with disabilities. In this position, you will help job candidates to create resumes, assist with job finding, and then work with community employers to support them in training their new employee. Job coaching is a position where you can truly "make a difference," for people with disabilities and for the community at large. Our Employment Training Specialists work throughout Chester and Delaware Counties.

JOB SUMMARY :

TheEmployment Training Specialist (ETS)is responsible forcompetitive placement of participants in the Comprehensive Employment Services (CES)program, including assessments, job development, job training, follow-upservicesand maintenance of participants’ records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Participate,collaborateand/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
  • Complete alltraining andqualificationsrequirements.
  • Obtain employment opportunities for job-ready candidates by promoting CES services and developing positive partnerships with prospective employers in the participants’ local communities.
  • Create and maintain workscheduleaccording to individual caseload and team coverage needs.5,
  • Collect, organize, and analyze information about participants through records, interviews, assessments, and professional sources to appraise the interests, aptitudes, and vocational and interpersonal skills of participants for employment planning.
  • Evaluate and determineappropriate matchesof candidates and employment opportunities based on individual needs and aspirations.
  • Provide counsel,supportand instruction throughout the job search process; assess, preparecandidatesand promote independence in the preparation of applications and resumes, and practice for participation in interviews. Provide initial transportation for assessments and interviews, if needed.
  • Provide one-on-one training at the work site and on-going follow-up services based on theindividuals’specific needs.
  • Complete andsubmitrequired documentationin a timely manner, including but not limited to, service notes, incident reports, time and attendance records, and mileage expenses.Assistprogram director with the development of progress reports as requested.
  • Comply withall agency policies and procedures, program requirements, waiver, regulations and laws, and agency plans.
  • Prepare for and activelyparticipatein all required meetingsincluding, butnot limitedto;team meetings, service plans, and committee meetings.
  • Provide guidance and referral to specialists who mayassistwith participants’ concernsregardingmanagement of benefits, unemployment compensation, and other employment related issues as may become necessary.
  • Develop andmaintainprofessional working relationships with employers, businesses, the community, service coordinators, counselors, participants, and families.
  • Maintain participants’records;including referral and intake information, psychological reports, ISP and updates, Behavior Support Plans, fading and training plans, and job placement information.
  • Adjust workscheduleand occasionally work evenings, weekends and/or holidays if needed to ensure support forparticipantat their job site.
  • Participate in Arc sponsored events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s or Associatesdegree preferred ,in Vocational /Rehabilitation counseling, Education, Psychology, or related fieldand/orexperience working directly with persons with disabilities.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
