My Sisters’ Place in Greater Hartford seeks an Employment Specialist to support its mission of ending homelessness by helping women, families, and individuals achieve housing stability through job coaching, assessments, and placement services.

The role involves coordinating job development, conducting workshops, maintaining records, liaising with community partners, and guiding tenants through computer lab job-search activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Experience in nonprofit or homelessness services beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Job Club, employment assessments, job placement, job development and follow along services.
  • Provides leadership in organizing and evaluating vocational needs of participants.
  • Develops new resources and/or identifies existing resources for job sites.
  • Prepares individual employment plans updated quarterly.
  • Coordinates job development and job search activities; conducts workshops.
  • Provides follow-along support to help clients maintain employment.
  • Assists with resume writing and job search during computer lab hours.
  • Maintains records and reports; liaises with CT Works and other agencies.
  • Attends meetings and participates in planning activities; performs other duties.
