Job summary

Pacific Clinics in Los Angeles is seeking a career counselor to develop job leads and place adults with mental illness in competitive community employment. You will assess client strengths and career goals and match opportunities.

You will coach on resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and job readiness, build relations with employers, organize job fairs, and track progress to ensure alignment with program goals and funding requirements.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field.
  • Four years of related experience providing employment rehabilitation services.
  • Ability to work with homeless and dually diagnosed populations.

Responsibilities

  • Assess clients’ skills, interests, and employment goals through one-on-one consultations.
  • Research and identify job opportunities that align with client qualifications and career objectives.
  • Assist clients with resume development, cover letters, and interview preparation.
  • Provide coaching on job search strategies and workplace readiness.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with employers to identify hiring needs and job openings.
  • Markets clients to potential employers and advocates on their behalf.
  • Coordinates job interviews and follows up with employers and clients post-placement.
  • Tracks client progress and maintains accurate case notes and documentation.
  • Collaborates with workforce programs, training providers, and other community resources.
  • Organizes job fairs, hiring events, and employer presentations when applicable.
  • Monitors job market trends and advises clients accordingly.
  • Ensures client placements meet program goals and funding requirements.

Overview
Compensation We Offer
  • The initial compensation for this position ranges from $23.00 - $27.39 per hour; depending on experience, location and internal equity considerations
  • 8% License Differential for LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD. and select Peer Certifications**
  • Possible Additional Compensation (may vary based on position eligibility)
    • Possible Bilingual Differentials: Up to 7.5% for qualifying direct-service roles; up to $80.00/month flat fee for qualifying non-direct service roles.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or other related field and four (4) years of related experience providing employment rehabilitation services for the mentally ill or a demonstrated ability, or equivalent combination of education and experience (two years of relevant experience equals one year of education) to include:
  • Experience providing employment rehabilitation services for the mentally ill or a demonstrated ability.
  • A working knowledge of the community job market,
  • Demonstrated skills working effectively with the homeless and dually diagnosed population.
  • A working knowledge of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation model, .Basic knowledge of public policies relative to member population and associated programs

  • Ability to assess client strengths, skills, and career goals.
  • Proficiency in resume development, interview coaching, and job readiness training.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is required to use hands to produce records and/or documentation in manual or electronic format.
