Job summary

West Bay RI is seeking an Employment Specialist to help individuals with IDD discover strengths, explore career interests, and gain independence through meaningful employment in a community-based setting.

You will serve as a vocational mentor, social coach, and advocate, building relationships with people we support and local employers to create opportunities aligned with each individual's goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree preferred in special education, psychology or a related field.
• ACRE Certification or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year relevant experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Maintains a valid Driver's License.
• Maintains valid vehicle inspection, registration and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Career Exploration & Preparation: Explore interests, strengths, abilities, preferences, and career goals via interviews, observation, assessments, and hands-on experiences.
• Job Development & Placement: Identify and develop employment opportunities aligned with each individual's strengths and goals; build relationships with employers.
• Job Coaching & Retention: Provide individualized job coaching and ongoing support to help individuals succeed in the workplace.
• Documentation & Professional Responsibilities: Maintain case notes, service documentation, and progress records using a person-centered approach.
• Impact: Help individuals turn strengths and potential into real employment opportunities, fostering confidence, independence, and community connections.

Education
