Job summary

Resources for Human Development seeks an Employment Specialist to provide direct vocational assessment, job development, and coaching services to participants. You will identify needed supports to overcome barriers to employment and promote recovery through community participation and contribution.

The role requires conducting job support, ISP updates, and collaboration with a team while maintaining professional boundaries and timely documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; HS diploma or GED with credentialing upon hire (CESP, ACRE, CWIC or WIP-C).
  • Ability to meet billable productivity targets and complete staffing assignments.
  • Commitment to Employment First Best Practices.
  • Ability to support individuals to develop job skills in competitive employment.
  • Valid driver's license and daily access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide job support to program participants.
  • Identify and remove barriers to productivity in day-to-day activities.
  • Engage individuals with supportive relationships within professional boundaries.
  • Provide Supported Employment goals and ISP updates based on individual needs.
  • Assist individuals to reach ISP goals.
  • Provide on-call coverage in rotation with the team as needed.
  • Support job finding for self-employment and traditional jobs.
  • Complete documentation promptly.

Job description

Position Summary:

Employment Specialist provides direct vocational assessment, job development, and job coaching services to participants. The Employment Specialist will participate in identifying needed support to overcome barriers to employment. The foundation of all activities will focus on individual recovery through meaningful community participation, contribution, and membership.

Essential Duties and Functions:
  • Providing job support to working program participants.
  • Identify and respond to the needs of the consumers in achieving efficient responses to requests and to eliminate barriers limiting productivity in day-to-day activities.
  • Engage individuals in a trusting and supportive relationship, providing emotional support within professional boundaries.
  • Provide Supported Employment insight and goals with the individual, for updated ISP based upon the specific needs of the individual, with the aim of maximizing physical, emotional and mental health.
  • Assist the individual to reach the goals identified in the ISP.
  • Provide emergency on-call coverage in rotation with other team members as needed.
  • Provide all forms of job finding and support for individuals pursuing self-employment, as well as traditional jobs.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • In lieu of the above Bachelor’s Degree, IDEATE requires a HS Diploma/GED and Employment Support Services credentialing from one of the following upon hire. (Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the APSE; OR Professional Certificate in Employment Services from an ACRE-approved trained member OR CWIC or WIP-C certification in current standing with the Social Security Administration).
  • Complete staffing assignments as assigned required billable productivity levels.

  • Ability to support individuals to develop job skills in competitive employment.
  • Drivers' license and daily access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Working conditions:

This position is set in an office environment as well as out in the community while supporting program participants. While performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Position requires travel throughout the community supported by the program.
