Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business required.
  • Minimum 7 years of HR compliance or employee-relations experience preferred with healthcare exposure.
  • SHRM-CP/PHR or related compliance certifications preferred.

A Brief Overview

The HR Employment Policy & Compliance Consultant supports Stanford Health Care's employment compliance initiatives by implementing compliance programs, conducting routine assessments and providing guidance on HR policies and regulatory requirements. This role will be assigned a specific compliance area specialty(s) while maintaining broad knowledge across the full spectrum of HR compliance to help ensure the organization maintains compliance with applicable regulations across its hospital and ambulatory settings.

What You Will Do
  • Manages assigned compliance area specialties (such as wage-and-hour, AWS, regulatory surveys, unemployment claims, PAGA analysis, or policy governance) while maintaining broad knowledge across the full spectrum of HR compliance.
  • Facilitates Alternative Work Schedule (AWS) elections, ensuring adherence to state regulations for accurate and timely employee communications, proper documentation, voting processes, and ensuring all requirements are met for successful implementation.
  • Conducts regular audits of meal and rest break waivers, timekeeping practices, and timecards, identifying non-compliance trends and recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitors, summarizes, and communicates legislative updates relevant to HR policies and practices, recommending policy revisions to maintain compliance with changing laws.
  • Supports PAGA case analysis by gathering relevant data and documentation, identifying potential compliance vulnerabilities, and participating in mitigation planning.
  • Represents HR in regulatory surveys and accreditation activities, preparing and organizing required documentation and supporting leadership through the process.
  • Processes and analyzes unemployment claims, providing recommendations based on case merit and compliance requirements.
  • Partners with Legal, Compliance, Risk and Operations to implement programs that mitigate risks across HR practices and delivers training on compliance best practices.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university.
Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of HR compliance or employee-relations experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting, handling multiple of the following: wage-and hour issues, Alternative Work Schedule, policy governance management of regulatory surveys, PAGA, timekeeping audits or unemployment claims.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission standards and labor laws applicable to healthcare settings.
  • Understanding of HR policies, procedures, and best practices in compliance management.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for identifying compliance issues and recommending solutions.
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting using HR systems and tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex compliance requirements to various audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting team objectives and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Experience with audit processes and documentation standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or related compliance certifications are preferred.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $60.99 - $80.78 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
