Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting seeks an experienced Employment Law Attorney to advise employers on a broad range of workplace matters in New York. The role combines employment litigation, proactive counseling, and practical legal solutions for businesses.

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, in-depth knowledge of NY and federal employment laws, and the ability to independently manage complex matters while guiding clients strategically.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active New York Bar admission.
• 7–12 years of employment law experience.
• Experience representing employers in employment litigation and workplace disputes.
• Strong knowledge of federal, New York State, and local employment laws, including discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour regulations.
• Experience advising employers on employment compliance and risk management.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent employers in state and federal employment litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
• Handle discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and breach of contract disputes.
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions, and manage pleadings and discovery.
• Conduct depositions, witness interviews, and workplace investigations.
• Prepare responses to EEOC and other administrative agency charges.
• Counsel employers on workplace policies, employment compliance, and emerging legal issues.
• Draft and negotiate employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and severance agreements.
• Advise clients on evolving workplace regulations, including the use of artificial intelligence in employment practices.
