Job summary

Orionplacement is seeking an experienced employment and business-law counsel in Grandview Heights, OH. This on-site role requires Ohio bar admission and 5+ years advising employers on workplace matters and disputes.

You will draft and negotiate employment documents, manage matters independently, and build strong client relationships while expanding the firm’s employment practice and client development activities.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active Ohio Bar admission in good standing.
• 5+ years of employment law and/or closely related business law experience.
• Experience advising employers on workplace matters.
• Experience handling employment-related claims, disputes, or litigation.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, legal research, and writing skills.
• Strong client counseling and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in developing a long-term practice.

Responsibilities

• Counsel business clients on employment law, workplace matters, compliance, and risk management.
• Advise employers on employee relations, policies, terminations, discipline, and other workplace issues.
• Handle employment-related claims, disputes, and litigation from strategy through resolution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, policies, and related documents.
• Help clients proactively identify and address employment-related legal risks.
• Provide practical business-law guidance alongside employment counsel when client needs overlap.
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions, correspondence, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.
• Develop a strong understanding of clients' businesses and become a trusted legal advisor.
• Manage matters and deadlines independently while collaborating with other attorneys and professionals across the firm.
• Participate in client development, professional organizations, community involvement, and other firm initiatives.

Location: Grandview Heights, OH, in the Columbus area. This is a fully on-site position offering close collaboration with colleagues and direct connection with clients.

Note: Must be admitted to and in good standing with the Ohio Bar and have 5+ years of directly relevant employment law and/or business law experience. Candidates must be comfortable advising employers, handling employment-related disputes and claims, and drafting and negotiating agreements.
