Job summary

AccessCNY, Inc. in Fulton, NY is seeking an Employment Consultant to place, train, stabilize, and rehabilitate people with disabilities into competitive employment.

You will work with referrals from ACCESS-VR/CBVH/OPWDD and coordinate with employers to identify suitable opportunities. The role requires a high school diploma or GED with related experience, plus strong communication and basic computer skills; a valid NYS driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with four years’ experience working with people with disabilities, or an associate degree with two years’ experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a human services field also acceptable.
• Basic word processing and email skills required.

Responsibilities

• Accept referrals from ACCESS-VR/CBVH/OPWDD (funding sources).
• Evaluate participants’ employment interests, skills and potential.
• Identify the employers’ and the employees’ needs at the job site.
• Collaborate with employer/manager/trainer to assess participant training needs.
• Work with employers to identify jobs suitable for participants.
• Provide 28 hours of billable services per week; rehabilitate four-six individuals each year.
• Identify adaptive equipment/assistive technology to support job performance.
• Nurture natural supports to facilitate success.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses and employment networks.
• Provide person-centered, quality services.
• Follow Agency standards and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Location: Fulton, NY

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30a-4:30p

Pay Rate: $18.74 Hourly

Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.

About the Role

• Identify the employers’ and the employees’ needs at the job site
• Collaborate with employer/manager/trainer to assess participant training needs
• Work with employers to identify jobs suitable for participants
• Provide 28 hours of billable services per week; rehabilitate four-six individuals each year
• Identify adaptive equipment/assistive technology that can assist participants to perform jobs at expected levels
• Identify and nurture natural co-worker/family/agency supports that can facilitate success
• Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, human resource groups, and employment networks
• Provide person-centered, quality services
• Follow Agency standards and procedures
• Perform Other Duties as Assigned

Education & Experience

High school diploma/GED, plus four years’ experience working with people with disabilities, or, associate degree, plus two years’ experience working with people with disabilities in order to secure competitive employment, or bachelor's degree in a human services field, required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Basic word processing and email skills required.

Conditions of Employment

Must have a valid NYS Driver License in accordance with the Agency Vehicle and Driving policy and transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must be able to lift 45 pounds.
