Position Summary

Want to make a difference in someone's life? We are seeking a responsible and caring individual to mentor and support individuals with developmental disabilities at their job sites, and assist with job development for those seeking employment in the Los Angeles / Northern San Fernando Valley.

We have the following positions open:

• Sylmar - varied schedule, 7 days a week, up to 24 hours per week
• Tujunga - Monday or Tuesday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, 6 hours per week
• North Hills - Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm, 20 hours per week
• Lake Balboa - Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:30 am - 2:30 pm, 18 hours per week

Starting Rate: $24.00/hour. Plus mileage and cell phone reimbursement, with bonus incentives for job placements ranging from $100-600 (prorated).

In the Employment Coach role, you will support individuals with:

• Job development, including resume building, practice interviews, and learning employability skills
• Transportation and community access assistance
• Maintaining employment and productivity
• Discovering interests, skills, and employment goals
• Creating meaningful daily schedules with their support circle

Building healthy relationships is key. Your main goal will be to develop respectful, professional relationships with the individuals you support, as well as help them build positive relationships with co-workers, roommates, and neighbors.

Skills and Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• College experience or degree is preferred but not required
• Reliable vehicle that passes safety inspection
• Clean DMV record
• Experience with positive behavior support is a plus
• Experience or interest in ASD is a plus
• Bi-lingual skills are a plus
• First Aid / CPR certification (training provided if needed)

A comprehensive paid training program is provided at hire and ongoing.

• The Employment Coach carries out directives from leadership to meet service and support needs.
• Provides mentorship, focusing on health, safety, and quality of life.
• Supports job development and on-the-job supports, guided by PBIS and instructional strategies.
• Assists in developing Individualized Support Plans.
• Uses digital tools like Zoom and online platforms for support and job searching.
• Maintains strong relationships with employers and volunteer sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Practices person-centered values and respectful communication.
• Builds esteem and competence in interactions.
• Implements community integration and develops work schedules.
• Finds and develops competitive employment placements.
• Encourages meaningful employment activities.
• Conducts job site analysis and implements adaptations.
• Provides healthcare support as needed.
• Executes individual service plan goals and monitors behavior strategies.
• Completes documentation and attends training.
• Maintains professional appearance and demonstrates emergency procedures.
• Collaborates with individuals and their support networks on employment activities.
• Contacts prospective employers and facilitates job applications.
• Shadows and trains other coaches.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, reaching, balancing, pulling, pushing, and driving.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of 1-10 lbs.
• Requires use of hands, typical vision, hearing, and driving capabilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Office, community, home supports, outdoor settings.
