Job Description: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Employment Attorney to represent public school districts in employment and labor matters. This remote California-based role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in public education law, employee discipline, administrative hearings, and compliance with the Education Code.
Responsibilities:
Defend school districts in employment disputes, including PERB and OAH hearings
Advise on employee discipline, dismissal, and labor relations
Provide guidance on Education Code compliance, Title IX, and collective bargaining
Draft legal documents and represent clients in administrative and court proceedings
Offer training and legal counsel to school administrators and HR teams
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school; active California Bar member
Minimum 10 years of employment law experience, with a focus on public school or public sector defense
Strong knowledge of California labor laws, Education Code, and PERB processes
Excellent writing, advocacy, and client counseling skills
California residency with ability to attend occasional in-person hearings or meetings
Compensation: $200,000–$275,000 annually, based on experience. Includes bonus potential and full benefits package. Work Environment: Remote within California, with flexible support and resources.
