Job summary

Preti Flaherty is seeking an experienced Employment Law Associate to join the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. The position can be based in Portland, ME or Concord, NH, with engaging work advising and Counseling clients and handling litigation for regional and national clients.

The ideal candidate will have a J.D., admission to NH/ME/MA bars (or anticipated), 2–5 years of employment law litigation, and strong research, writing, and analytical skills suitable for fast-paced matters across

Overview

Preti Flaherty, one of New England’s largest law firms with offices in ME, NH, MA, and Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced Employment Law Associate to join the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. The Employment Associate can be based in either our downtown Portland, ME or Concord, NH office. This position offers engaging work advising and counseling clients and handling litigation matters on behalf of Preti’s regional and national clients.

Responsibilities

Provide advising and counseling to clients, and handle litigation matters on behalf of Preti Flaherty’s regional and national clients. Work with the Employment Law Practice Group to defend employers in matters including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, hostile work environment, wrongful termination, misappropriation of trade secrets, and restrictive covenants in state and federal courts and administrative agencies across New England. Collaborate with a team of colleagues to deliver outcome-oriented client representation and contribute to a solutions-based approach.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree from an accredited law school
• Active bar membership (or anticipated within 6–12 months) in NH, ME, or MA
• 2–5 years of litigation experience, ideally within employment law
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and teamwork
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
