Distinct | North America is seeking an Employment Advice and Litigation Associate to work fully remotely within California. You will blend advisory work with litigation for employers who’ve grown fast, translating policy into practical, lawful guidance for complex disputes.

You’ll join a dynamic team handling pre-claim counseling, discrimination and wage-hour matters, and will lead in discovery, motions, and depositions while supporting policy development and client service.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of employment law experience including litigation and counseling.
• Licensed to practice law in California (California Bar).

Responsabilités

• Advise employers to prevent claims before they arise.
• Handle single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases.
• Manage wage and hour matters, including exempt status issues.
• Draft separation agreements and conduct related conversations.
• Prepare written discovery, motions, and depositions.

Employment Advice and Litigation Associate | Fully Remote, California | $235,000 to $310,000

Two years in, somebody drops a handbook on you that was written when the company had eleven people in it. It's got four hundred now, across three states, and nobody has opened the thing since. Forty pages, and your job is working out which bits of it are now illegal.

That's the half of employment work nobody warns you about at law school, and it's half of this job. The other half is litigation, single plaintiff claims and wage and hour, for employers who grew fast and wrote their policies in a hurry.

Where your hours would go:

• Advising employers before the thing becomes a claim, which is most of the value and none of the glory
• Single plaintiff discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims
• Wage and hour, including the exempt classification fights that start with a job description nobody updated
• Separation agreements, and the conversations that go with them
• Written discovery, motions and your own depositions

What you'd need:

• Two years or more of employment work, litigation and counseling both
• The California Bar

One of the good things about this one is the money at the bottom of the band. $235,000 for somebody two years out, up to $310,000, and it's fully remote anywhere in California.
