WHC Attorneys in Spokane Valley, WA seeks an experienced Employment Law Attorney to advise employers on compliance, draft policies, and defend employment-related claims in administrative proceedings and court. The role emphasizes proactive counseling, risk management, and collaboration with leadership teams, with opportunities to expand into related business matters.

A minimum of 3+ years in employment law and WA admission are required.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice in Washington
• 3+ years of employment law experience
• Experience advising employers on compliance and personnel matters
• Experience handling employment litigation independently
• Strong written advocacy and courtroom skills
• Confident, practical advisor to business decision-makers

Responsabilités

• Counsel employers on compliance with federal and state employment laws
• Advise on hiring, discipline, termination, wage and hour, leave laws, and workplace investigations
• Draft and review employment agreements, handbooks, policies, and severance agreements
• Provide proactive risk management guidance to minimize litigation exposure
• Support business clients with strategic HR decision-making
• Defend employers in administrative proceedings (EEOC, state agencies, etc.)
• Represent clients in state and federal court employment litigation
• Manage cases from initial assessment through resolution
• Conduct discovery, draft motions, take and defend depositions
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation
• Serve as primary relationship attorney for assigned clients
• Communicate clearly and strategically with business owners and leadership teams
• Collaborate with attorneys in business, estate, and real estate practice areas
• Contribute to client education and preventive training initiatives
