Summary

Mortenson is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to join the Mortenson family. This position is part of the Employee Relations team within the Human Resource Business Partner umbrella. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and gain a solid foundation in Human Resources. You will investigate concerns and complaints, support team members and managers, and work proactively to maintain a safe and respectful work environment. Additionally, you will collaborate with HR Business Partners to support managers and leaders in addressing challenges and improving performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake calls and investigate team member concerns.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and managers to resolve issues.
  • Document findings and actions taken, ensuring accuracy.
  • Assess and implement effective solutions to concerns.
  • Interpret and apply policies to various situations.
  • Coach and counsel team members and managers.
  • Assist in disciplinary decisions and performance management.
  • Support team members and managers with accommodation requests.
  • Analyze data trends and provide training on best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Assist with separation and performance management documentation.
  • Manage HR-related documents and data.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting, analysis, and presentations.
  • Partner with Center of Excellence teams for service delivery.
  • Support special projects like legal research, policy rollouts, and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of HR experience, preferably involving employee relations and investigations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels.
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to maintain constructive relationships.
  • Knowledge of employment law and confidentiality.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, active listening, and effective communication.

Pay range: $65,100 - $87,900, with higher ranges for certain locations.
