Job summary

Best Buy is seeking an Employee Relations Sr. Coordinator to manage intake and triage of ER and Emergency Hotline cases with thorough note-taking and research.

The role supports leaders with Corrective Action guidance for minor violations and questions about SOPs and policies. This hybrid role requires on-site work Monday through Thursday at the Richfield, Minnesota corporate office, with the option to work remotely from home on Friday.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or an Investigative environment.
• 1+ years of experience with de-escalation, problem-solving, and handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Gathers information from multiple sources to generate cases and document details.
• Triages cases by severity and assigns to appropriate teams; clarifies Corrective Action procedures for minor violations.
• Handles First Call Resolution for terminations and incident reviews with proper documentation.
• Notifies leadership via Crisis Escalations SOP to ensure timely response to critical situations.
• Develops instructions, supports real-time caseworkers, and processes terminations and final pay in Workday.

Job description

The Employee Relations Sr. Coordinator will be responsible for the accurate and efficient intake and triage of all Employee Relations and Emergency Hotline cases. The Sr. Coordinator clearly captures detailed notes, triages cases based on severity, and completes thorough research. Additionally, the Sr. Coordinator will provide First Call Resolution of Employee Relations cases and Critical Incidents, offer recommendations for leaders seeking guidance on minor Policy and Conduct violations, and provide direction to leaders and partners in response to emergencies and Critical Incidents (including Workplace Violence, Burglaries, Facilities Emergencies, and Data Privacy Incidents).

This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What You’ll Do

Case Intake and Leader Support

• Gathers relevant information and generates cases from various sources, including phone calls, web forms, emails, Open & Honest submissions, and other inputs from Best Buy employees, leaders, HR partners, and requestors.
• Accurately and concisely documents all pertinent details.
• Conducts comprehensive research on cases to support an efficient investigation process.
• Assesses incoming reports, determines their severity, and assigns cases to the appropriate teams.
• Provides clarification to leaders regarding Corrective Action procedures for minor violations and responds to employee questions about SOPs and policies.

First Call Resolution and Leadership Notifications

• Handles First Call Resolution cases including attendance terminations, theft with admission terminations, introductory period terminations and others as assigned by thoroughly reviewing employee Corrective Action files and investigation materials as applicable, applying Corrective Action Guidelines, and mitigating risk by reviewing ServiceNow and the active litigation report
• Sends escalation notifications per the Crisis Escalations SOP to appropriate parties throughout the company to ensure timely handling of critical situations.

Other Tasks And Administrative Support

• Develops, updates, and maintains work instructions to ensure team compliance, accuracy, and consistency.
• Monitors department Teams chat and responds promptly to real-time support requests from caseworkers and other partners related to new and existing cases
• Processes employee terminations accurately in the Workday database.
• Composes and distributes termination notification emails to relevant leaders.
• Calculates and submits final pay for terminated employees in accordance with state regulations.
• Conducts additional research as requested by caseworkers, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or an Investigative environment
• 1+ years of experience of de-escalation and problem-solving skills
• 1+ years of experience of advanced proficiency in organization, prioritization, and detail orientation
• 1+ years of experience of high level of ethics, integrity, judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
• 1+ years of experience of demonstrating strong written communication skills, including documentation and report writing
• 1+ years of experience using strong critical thinking skills
• 1+ years of experience collaborating cross-functionally
• Work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strong attention to detail
