Job summary

At Atlassian, the Employee Relations team provides expert support to navigate challenging employee matters. You will lead end-to-end workplace investigations, coach managers on performance and separations, and partner with HRBPs, Legal, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues with confidentiality and sound judgment.

You will also serve as a subject matter expert on local employment laws and contribute data-driven insights to drive proactive improvements, training, and compliance practices

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of Employee Relations or related HR experience.
• Experience leading end-to-end workplace investigations.
• Knowledge of US and Canada employment laws.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to influence stakeholders.
• Discretion, confidentiality, and trust across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end workplace investigations into grievances, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
• Coach and advise People Leaders on performance management and risk reviews for separations.
• Resolve sensitive employee matters with cross-functional partners (HRBPs, Legal).
• Provide policy and compliance guidance based on local employment laws.
• Utilize ER metrics and data to drive proactive improvements and trainings.
• Facilitate training sessions on performance management and difficult conversations.

Your Future Team

The Employee Relations team provides expert support, guidance, and coaching to help navigate and resolve challenging employee issues. We focus on providing proactive solutions, fostering healthy workplace dynamics, and partnering closely with People Leaders and HRBPs to enable premier management practices across Atlassian.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Conduct Investigations: Lead end-to-end workplace investigations into employee grievances, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims, providing objective analysis, documentation, and actionable recommendations.

• Coach & Advise People Leaders: Partner with managers to navigate complex performance management issues, conduct risk reviews for involuntary separations, and facilitate constructive feedback and performance improvement plans (PIPs).

• Conflict Resolution & Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor and conflict resolution specialist, partnering closely with HRBPs, Legal, and cross-functional teams to resolve sensitive employee matters.

• Policy & Compliance Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on local employment laws, compliance guidelines, and Atlassian people policies.

• Proactive ER & Data Insights: Leverage ER metrics, trends, and issue logs to identify root causes, inform systemic improvements, and develop proactive training for people leaders.

• Training & Enablement: Facilitate training sessions for leaders and teams on effective performance management, navigating difficult conversations, and compliance practices.

Pay Ranges

In The United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $160,200 - $209,150

Zone B: $144,180 - $188,235

Zone C: $132,966 - $173,595

Qualifications

On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:

• 5-7+ years of dedicated Employee Relations or related HR experience in a fast-paced or high-growth environment.

• Proven track record of independently managing end-to-end workplace investigations and complex performance management situations.

• Deep knowledge of relevant employment laws, labor regulations, and compliance frameworks for the U.S. and Canada

• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and objectivity.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex recommendations and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

• Empathy, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust across all levels of the organization.

It’s also great if you have:

• Experience in the tech or SaaS industry.

• Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction employment regulations or cross-border employee populations.

• Background partnering directly with in-house employment counsel.
