Job summary

Purvis Industries in Dallas, TX seeks an Employee Relations Lead to guide a compliant, high-performing workforce. You will advise employees and leaders, conduct investigations, coach managers, and oversee two HR Generalists while upholding policy and employment law.

The role requires a Bachelor's in HR or related field, 5+ years in HR with emphasis on employee relations, familiarity with OSHA/MSHA, and strong communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience with focus on employee relations.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or supervising HR professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws/regulations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's primary resource for employee relations, advising managers and employees on workplace issues, personnel practices, and employment law compliance.
  • Lead and conduct employee relations investigations, including complaints, conflicts, policy violations, safety concerns, and other sensitive matters, documenting findings and actions.
  • Coach managers through performance management, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and employee development initiatives.
  • Supervise and develop two HR Generalists, providing day-to-day guidance and workload prioritization.
  • Review, interpret, and maintain HR policies and procedures for consistency and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and mitigate risks.
  • Partner with Operations and Safety to promote a safe work environment and OSHA/MSHA compliance.
  • Analyze trends and propose proactive solutions to improve engagement and retention.
  • Maintain confidential records and handle employee matters professionally.

Position Summary

The Employee Relations Lead is responsible for fostering a positive, compliant, and high-performing work environment by serving as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders across the organization. This role leads employee relations efforts, conducts workplace investigations, provides guidance on performance management and corrective actions, and ensures the consistent application of company policies and employment practices. The Employee Relations Lead also supervises and develops two Human Resources Generalists, helping to drive effective HR service delivery while supporting strategic business objectives. The ideal candidate possesses strong employee relations expertise, leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of employment law, workplace compliance, and safety regulations, including OSHA and MSHA. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Maintain accurate records and handle all employee matters with a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong focus on employee relations.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Prior experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or supervising HR professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety requirements and regulatory standards, including OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Strong conflict resolution, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and build trusted relationships with employees, managers, and leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations.
  • Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, logistics, mining, construction, or other safety-sensitive environments.
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of employee relations principles, workplace investigations, and employment law.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and MSHA regulations and workplace safety best practices.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive situations effectively.
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills with the ability to influence and develop managers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple priorities.
