Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle seeks an Employee Relations Consultant to assess and resolve employee issues, mitigate risk, and align actions with company policy. You will lead investigations, advise senior leaders, and contribute to ER training and COE improvements.

The role focuses on collaboration across business lines and HR Centers of Excellence in the US, with occasional travel and an on-site location in Chicago or Dallas. A strong background in employment law is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial or Labor Relations or related field.
  • 5+ years of employee relations experience.
  • Experience with HR investigations and policy interpretation.

What this job involves

The Employee Relations Consultant assesses and helps resolve employee issues while providing recommendations to mitigate risk for the firm. This role concentrates on addressing gaps in perception, understanding, or performance expectations between employees and management. Moreover, the Employee Relations Consultant recommends solutions that align with JLL's commitment to fair and equitable treatment of its employees and promote JLL's best interests. The Employee Relations Consultant will actively promote collaboration and help all business lines and HR Centers of Excellence working towards supporting the US region. Additionally, they will play a key role in enhancing the ER Center of Excellence (COE) function by actively contributing to the creation of training programs, tools, templates, processes, reference materials, and other projects. This position reports directly to the US Head of Employee Relations Functions as a collaborative coach, providing guidance and support to the performance team and HR colleagues Partners with the ER Lead to oversee and advise on workforce reduction initiatives, mitigating associated risks. Conducts investigations of potential employment law violations, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and NLRA. Independently resolves complex ER cases by gathering relevant information, analyzing findings, and applying company policies to reach conclusions. Consults, guides, coaches, and advises senior executives, HR Business Partners, and HR Leadership team members in collaboration with legal on high-risk and complex matters. Identifies and resolves employee concerns through recommended actions and oversight. Analyzes case trends to recommend HR and business strategies, addressing systemic issues through proactive coaching and training. Maintains accurate and exemplary investigation records; provides case management and data entry guidance to their colleagues as needed. Collaborates on evaluating and refining internal policies and processes to enhance operational efficiency. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications
  • TECHNICAL Extensive knowledge of employment, wage, and hour, FMLA, and EEO laws and regulations.
  • Expertise in internal investigation principles.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Skilled in gathering, synthesizing, analyzing, and reporting ER data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate data, trends, and their impact on the team and company.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Teams, and other telecommunications software.
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as Navex, ServiceNow, or Workday
  • INTERPERSONAL Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in managing and building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong collaboration, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Results-focused with the ability to coordinate with diverse disciplines.
  • Applies relevant actions based on policies, procedures, and business practices.
  • Proven integrity and confidentiality skills.
  • Maintains neutrality and calm demeanor in tense situations.

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial or Labor Relations or related field (Post-graduate HR or Legal experience preferred).
  • 5+ years of employee relations experience.
  • PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED Bilingual Spanish Speaker

  • Expected compensation for this position: 90,000.00 – 120,000.00 USD per year
  • Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
