Job summary

Shawmut Design and Construction, a premier hotel renovation contractor, seeks an Assistant Superintendent to lead field operations across multiple scopes while maintaining hotel operations and client relationships.

The role requires 5+ years in commercial construction, strong leadership, and proficiency with Procore and MS Office; travel nationwide is expected, with flexibility for nights and extended hours.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of relevant commercial construction experience.
• Experience leading field operations and supervising teams on hospitality renovation projects is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, safety, and quality; ability to read project documents and drive short-term schedules.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage multiple scopes, phases, floors, or shifts from mobilization through turnover, coordinating subcontractors and holding trade partners accountable for performance.
• Develop and drive two- and three-week look-ahead schedules, anticipate constraints, and collaborate with project leadership on recovery plans.
• Lead daily huddles, coordination meetings, safety inspections, and quality reviews; oversee corrective actions, testing, commissioning, and punch completion.
• Plan construction around occupied hotel operations, coordinating access, shutdowns, disruption controls, and phased turnover while maintaining professional client communication.
• Resolve field conflicts within delegated authority, maintain accurate Procore documentation, and coach Assistant Superintendents and field personnel.
