Job summary

Black & Veatch seeks an experienced Equipment Operator to operate diverse power construction equipment and support excavation, grading, and site preparation tasks. You will coordinate with crew members, monitor fuel and performance, and ensure safe operation and daily equipment checks.

Preferred candidates hold NCCER certifications (Heavy Equipment Operations, Rigger, Site Layout) and have at least 1 year of related experience, with CDL when operating on public roads.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as an equipment operator.
• Must have working knowledge of operating limitations and safe work practices for each equipment.
• Commercial driver's license is required when equipment will be operated on public roads.

Responsibilities

• Operate power construction equipment (e.g., track loader, dozer, backhoe, excavator, scraper, grader, side boom) to excavate, move, and grade material.
• Coordinate machine actions with crew using hand or audio signals; load and move dirt, rocks, or equipment.
• Check fuel supplies and ensure adequate availability at work sites; drive/maneuver equipment with attachments.
• Follow load capacity charts and ensure proper equipment support based on capacity and type.
• Perform daily inspections and document maintenance logs; participate in safety programs and report hazards.
