Employee Benefits Sales Underwriter - Southeast Region

Join to apply for the Employee Benefits Sales Underwriter - Southeast Region role at USI Insurance Services.

General Description: This client-facing position involves analyzing information to create and deliver financial solutions for prospective and existing clients with complex benefit programs. The Employee Benefits Sales Underwriter will support the Southeast Region remotely, residing in Florida, with travel to USI offices and clients as needed.

Responsibilities:
  1. Act as a resource for sales teams, developing strategic plans for prospects and larger clients.
  2. Collaborate with service teams to articulate clients’ objectives and deliver proactive solutions.
  3. Provide underwriting review, technical insights, and guidance on financial concepts to prospects and clients.
  4. Explain market influences and experience trends affecting benefit costs.
  5. Participate in sales presentations, leading financial analysis and discussions.
  6. Utilize and demonstrate data analytics tools.
  7. Analyze and prepare financial reports, including claims, trend analyses, market analysis, and funding projections.
  8. Develop alternative funding strategies and cost reduction opportunities using analytical tools.
  9. Review group insurance contracts and financial arrangements technically.
  10. Provide leadership, including tool development, research, and mentorship of junior staff.
  11. Maintain industry knowledge and foster carrier relationships.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 10+ years of experience in employee benefits or related field.
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain a state Life & Disability license.
  • Broad insurance industry knowledge.
  • Strong negotiation, mathematical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Adobe, Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
