IMA Financial Group in Kansas City is offering a summer internship opportunity for undergraduates and graduates in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management and Insurance. The role mixes in-office work with one day from home, and provides exposure to client experience and benefits teams.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in a program related to one of our host departments (Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management and Insurance)
• Interest in insurance-related roles; involvement in insurance clubs or Gamma Iota Sigma
• Students anticipated to graduate in Spring 2027, December 2027, or Spring 2028
• Previous work or internship experience in a professional services or similar environment
• Entrepreneurial spirit with problem-solving and creative thinking

Responsabilités

• Get an inside view of our company, insurance industry, and client engagement
• Support data analytics by maintaining Excel spreadsheets and interpreting trends
• Assist with benchmarking and client tracking on operational projects
• Create high-quality client materials including summaries, presentations, and analyses
• Observe claims processes and participate in client and carrier meetings as appropriate
• Represent the team at industry events and carrier meetings, building knowledge of risk and client service best practices

As an intern, your time will be divided between a core program shared with the entire cohort and specialized work, projects, and programming tailored to the department you join.

The Client Experience Employee Benefits team is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for an intern in our 2026 summer program! This role offers the chance to gain valuable experience at the Kansas City office, with a flexible schedule of 4 days in office and 1 working from home.

Daily responsibilities will include:

• A firsthand look at our company, the employee benefits industry, and how IMA partners with clients to solve challenges and deliver strategic solutions.
• Support data analytics by maintaining Excel spreadsheets, performing calculations, and interpreting trends to inform client deliverables and internal reporting.
• Support operational projects including benchmarking and client tracking.
• Create high-quality client materials-including summaries, presentations, and analysis packets-using strong professional communication and attention to detail.
• Exercise independent critical thinking to complete tasks with minimal instruction, determining appropriate next steps and ensuring efficient workflow.
• Gain exposure to core insurance functions by observing claims processes, partnering with the IMA EB team and participating in client and carrier meetings as appropriate.
• Represent the team at industry events and carrier meetings, building foundational knowledge of risk control, market dynamics, and client service best practices.

Because of this, preference is given to students closer to graduation, who demonstrate a curiosity about future employment within our industry.

You Should Have:

Benefits:

This internship is designed as a learning and development opportunity and does not include participation in the medical, dental, and vision insurance, and any other benefits program that are provided solely to regular full-time associates. You will, however, enjoy IMA paid holidays and five days of LifeBalance PTO during your internship. The LifeBalance PTO is inclusive of vacation, sick time or personal time.

Compensation:

This position is classified as nonexempt and is paid on an hourly basis. The hourly pay range for IMA interns is 18.00 to 22.00 dollars and is determined by your expected graduating year. You will be paid for all hours worked and will be eligible for overtime in accordance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
