As an Employee Benefits Account Manager, you will provide customer service to clients, as well as support to Sales Advisors, as it relates to the sale and service of group benefits business. You will gather information from clients to adequately quote their insurance, market business to the appropriate insurance companies, and assist with presenting formal proposals back to clients. This also includes working with our insurance companies to process new and renewal business throughout the year. You will also be responsible for providing top-notch customer service to clients by answering their questions and assisting with their group benefit needs; therefore, you must enjoy helping others and be willing to develop a thorough understanding of our insurance companies and their respective plans, coverages, and pricing. This particular position will primarily focus on groups with 10-50 lives; however, all backgrounds and experience in group benefits and health insurance will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Accident, Health, and Life insurance licenses.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, specifically within the employee benefits industry.
  • Knowledge of group benefit products and services.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to have positive customer interactions and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Excellent computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel), web-based computer applications, and other agency management systems.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects or tasks, meet established deadlines, and change priorities as business needs require.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, but also independently with minimal daily supervision.

Location & Flexible Work Options:

  • This position offers either an in-person or hybrid work arrangement for candidates interested in our Cedar Rapids, Waverly, or West Des Moines offices.
