Title: Employee Benefits Account Executive (service focused role)

Location: Baltimore, MD (REMOTE – Must live in MD/DC/VA)

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 + bonus + excellent benefits (dependent upon experience)

Summary:

Our client, a nationally recognized Employee Benefits Broker, is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Account Executive to join their team. Position is REMOTE, but candidates must reside in MD, DC, or VA for client travel. This role is open due to growth. As an AE, you will oversee the day-to-day service quality of a book of business focused on the large market space (100-500 lives). You will support 15-20 accounts, both fully insured and self-funded, acting as the primary point of contact for clients and responsible for strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a book of business with local and national clients, primarily fully insured, with some self-insured accounts.
  • Design, implement, and manage employer-sponsored benefits programs; develop and execute client strategies.
  • Resolve complex customer service issues directly.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Employee Benefit plans, funding methods, and vendor/carrier products.
  • Understand client financials and related projections.
  • Act as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers, ensuring clear communication and client retention through excellent customer service.
  • Explore strategic options, provide guidance, and assess financial implications and risks.
  • Handle marketing processes, including obtaining client data, sourcing quotes, and evaluating bids.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, acting as the subject matter expert on benefits and vendor products.
  • Potentially supervise junior team members.
  • Coordinate with clients and internal teams for system implementation, projects, and ongoing service.
  • Lead renewal processes, prepare renewal materials, oversee client onboarding, renewals, and open enrollment meetings.
  • Discuss legislation and market trends with clients.
  • Educate and advise clients on compliance topics such as ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, and Healthcare Reform.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Self-Funded, Fully-Insured, Captives, and Reference-Based Pricing accounts.
  • Must reside in MD, DC, or VA for client travel.
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License.
  • Experience managing a book of business.
  • Experience with open enrollment and renewals.
  • Strong Excel skills.

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, location, and skills.
