$90,000 - $110,000 per year

Position Details

Title: Employee Benefits Account Executive (service focused role)

Location: Baltimore, MD (REMOTE – Must reside in MD/DC/VA)

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 + bonus + benefits (dependent on experience)

Summary

Our client, a nationally recognized Employee Benefits Broker, seeks an experienced Employee Benefits Account Executive. This REMOTE position requires residence in MD, DC, or VA for client travel. The role involves managing a book of business focusing on large market clients (100-500 lives), overseeing 15-20 accounts, both fully insured & self-funded, with support from junior analysts and account managers. The primary responsibilities include client service, strategy, and account management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse book of business, including fully insured and self-insured clients nationally and locally.
• Design, implement, and manage employer-sponsored benefits programs; develop strategic plans.
• Resolve complex customer service issues directly.
• Be a subject matter expert on Employee Benefit plans, funding methods, and vendor/carrier products.
• Understand client financials and projections.
• Act as the primary contact with clients and carriers, ensuring clear communication and retention.
• Explore and advise on strategic options, including financial implications and risks.
• Handle marketing processes: obtain client data, prepare bids, evaluate results, and recommend solutions.
• Build and maintain client relationships as a subject matter expert on benefits and vendor services.
• Potential supervisory responsibilities over junior team members.
• Coordinate client systems, projects, and ongoing service delivery.
• Lead renewals, prepare renewal info, oversee client onboarding, renewals, and open enrollment meetings.
• Discuss legislation and market trends with clients.
• Educate and advise clients on compliance topics such as ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, and Health Care Reform.

Qualifications

• Experience with Self-Funded, Fully-Insured, Captives, and Reference-Based Pricing accounts.
• Residence in MD, DC, or VA required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License.
• Experience managing a book of business.
• Open enrollment and renewal experience.
• Strong Excel skills.

Compensation will be based on education, experience, location, and skills.
