Job summary

Covington Behavioral is seeking an Admissions Counselor to lead our admissions team and support individuals and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges.

The role is night shift 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM in Covington, LA, requiring a Master's or RN preferred, plus at least 1 year in mental health; CPR and de-escalation certification preferred. You will coordinate admissions, verify benefits, and collaborate with medical staff to ensure smooth referrals.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or RN preferred and licensure as applicable.
• At least 1 year of mental/behavioral health experience preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries about the facility within policy timeframes.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Perform benefit eligibility to ensure patient benefits are active at admission.
• Collaborate with medical and psychiatric staff for referrals.
• Coordinate admission and transfer between levels of care.
• Maintain knowledge of milieu management.
• Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments and communicate dispositions.
• Prepare medical record documentation for payor authorization.
• Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission.
• Admit patient and complete registration and consent forms.
• Provide positive, empathetic, professional service to customers.
• Coordinate care for patients not admitted and arrange follow-up.
• Demonstrate urgency for patient safety and excellent service.
• Perform safety checks and supervise at required intervals.
