Job summary

Chicago Behavioral Hospital in Des Plaines, Illinois is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) in a PRN role. You will provide continuous care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients across ages, under RN supervision.

This position offers shift differentials and opportunities to contribute to a therapeutic environment. The role requires compassion and clinical knowledge to record vital signs, apply crisis-intervention techniques, and support patients through discharge.

Qualifications

• Education as stated: High School degree or equivalent preferred; CNA may be preferred; college degree in social work, recreational therapy or related therapeutic discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs accurately and report changes to RN.
• Follow treatment interventions and contribute to development of care plans.
• Lead MHT-led groups and use CPI techniques as approved.
• Assist patients through discharge and support adaptation to life changes.
• Maintain safe, clean, and therapeutic environment following universal precautions.

Education

High School Degree or equivalent

Certified Nursing Assistant (preferred)

Bachelor’s/degree in social work or therapeutic discipline (preferred)
