Job summary

Oceans Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support nursing staff in a psychiatric unit serving adults and seniors. You will assist with patient care activities, monitoring, and documentation to maintain a therapeutic environment.

The role requires CNA certification or a high school diploma with healthcare exposure, plus CPR and de-escalation training. Morning/evening shifts and on-site work in Gretna, LA are expected.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or high school diploma with healthcare exposure.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing staff and maintain a therapeutic milieu.
• Assist with vital signs, ADL, nutrition, and documentation.
• Observe and report patient changes to the nurse promptly.
• Ensure safety, security of belongings and compliance with policies.
• Assist with mobility, meals, laundry, and daily activities.
• Adhere to infection control and Joint Commission standards.
• Complete required trainings and CPR/de-escalation programs.
• Document observations accurately and timely.
