Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Baton Rouge is seeking a motivated Behavioral Health Technician to assist nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu and delivering patient care under supervision. You will perform routine tasks, monitor patients, and help ensure safety and comfort for adults and seniors with mental health needs.

The role emphasizes de-escalation, observation documentation, and teamwork within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required, unless hired in certain states after Jan 1, 2026.
• Current CNA certification or at least 6 months of prior bedside, direct patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support unit rules compliance.
• Use de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventory patient belongings and secure contraband; perform safety checks.
• Follow universal precautions and infection control policies; attend in-services.
• Assist with vital signs, weights, ADL, nutrition monitoring; report findings.
