Job summary

Neurology Care in Ardmore, OK is seeking an Electromyography (EMG) Technician to support neurologists in diagnosing neuromuscular disorders. You will perform EMG and NCS procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain equipment according to protocols.

Responsibilities include patient prep, test setup, data collection, artifact recognition, documentation in charts, equipment sanitation, and collaboration with physicians.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong technical proficiency, precision, patience and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow strict medical protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Explain the EMG/NCS procedure to patients, address concerns, and ensure comfort and dignity.
  • Prepare and calibrate EMG/NCS equipment according to protocols, ensuring accurate readings.
  • Monitor and record electrical activity during muscle contraction and relaxation, and during nerve stimulation for NCS.
  • Identify and eliminate artifacts to improve test quality in collaboration with MD.
  • Record detailed findings, abnormal results, and observations in patient charts, following HIPAA compliance.
  • Sanitize, sterilize, and maintain EMG/NCS equipment; report malfunctions promptly.
  • Provide comfort, privacy, and dignity during testing; follow up with patients.
  • Work with neurologist, physicians, and other healthcare providers to discuss results and support treatment plans.
  • Botulinum toxin injections, manage lab inventory and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned

An Electromyography (EMG) Technician is a specialized healthcare professional who works under the supervision of a physician or neurologist to diagnose and monitor neuromuscular disorders. They use advanced diagnostic equipment to measure the electrical activity of muscles and nerves, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. EMG Technicians use electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) to detect conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathies, myopathies, and other neuromuscular diseases. Their work is integral to neurology and physical medicine teams, ensuring both technical accuracy and patient comfort.

Key Responsibilities
Technical and Clinical Skills
  • Patient Preparation & Communication: Explain the EMG/NCS procedure to patients, address concerns, and ensure comfort and dignity
