Job summary

Trace3 in Irvine, California is seeking an Innovation Research Intern to join our growing team. You will scout emerging startups, analyze investments, and support researchers with client requests while learning how Trace3 identifies macro technology trends.

Under the guidance of senior staff, you will maintain vendor longlists, verify data, and prepare notes for client workshops. The internship provides exposure to cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and other enterprise tech with real deliverables and

Qualifications

• Enrollment in the senior year of an undergraduate program or pursuing a Masters.
• Candidates should be pursuing IT, CS, cybersecurity or related fields.
• Excellent secondary research skills with careful attribution.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent technical documentation and artifact creation skills.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, presentation tools, and collaborative documents.
• GPA 3.0+; transcript may be requested.
• Academic or professional internship experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Scout emerging vendors across Security, Data, AI, DevOps and more.
• Conduct secondary research to analyze startup investments and trends.
• Apply deductive and inductive reasoning to verify data from sources.
• Interpret data and cite sources for material statements.
• Maintain a consistent vendor pipeline with category, product and funding info.
• Verify figures and citations; keep research repositories current.
• Observe research reviews and prepare notes with takeaways.
