Job summary

South Bend Community School Corporation seeks a Principal Intern for SY 26-27 in Indiana. The role supports the Principal with instructional leadership and aligns with PSEL standards. The internship runs July 1–June 30 and includes embedded work across school systems, with district coaches guiding professional growth.

The intern will work within continuous cycles of improvement, walkthroughs, evaluation, and feedback to inform school leadership decisions and planning.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required for consideration.
• Administration Certification completed or in progress.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Experience with day-to-day operation of schools.
• Strong knowledge of child development.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate support staff performance.
• Evaluate with monitoring a small cohort of teachers to gain experience with the evaluation process.
• Supervise facilities to ensure efficient use of resources as well as time management related to extracurricular events.
• Responsible for the safety, conduct, and general welfare of students.
• Monitor student progress and analyze data to inform professional learning plans.
• Experience with continuous cycles of improvement processes as they relate to school improvement planning.
• Understand the implementation of the Standards for Professional Learning.
• Connect PSEL standards to daily leadership tasks through effective reflection processes.
• Identify individual growth goals as well as artifacts to support growth in given goal areas.
• Develop and manage sound fiscal practices in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Other duties as assigned by district coaches, principal, or directors of school learning.
• Extended school and after‑school or Saturday School responsibilities as needed.
