Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Quality Engineer I for Underground Utilities/Civil to lead quality control on assigned scopes, partnering with senior managers on larger projects and driving corrective actions. You will implement the Quality Management Plan, oversee inspections, and manage NCN/RFI processes while training field personnel and ensuring design documents meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in construction/engineering.
• Minimum one year of experience in design, engineering, or construction.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to conduct constructability and design document quality reviews, shop drawing reviews, and submittal reviews.
• Knowledge of the design-bid-build process.
• Mechanical aptitude with large cranes and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Foster teamwork and promote diversity on the project.
• Serve as a technical resource for project staff and guide quality practices.
• Implement the Quality Management Plan across assigned work scopes.
• Oversee quality inspections of materials and work, identify non-conformances, and drive corrective actions.
• Manage Non-Conformance Notices (NCN) and RFI processes through resolution of issues.
• Train project personnel on roles, responsibilities, and Mortenson quality processes.
• Collaborate with customers, architects, engineers, and subs, ensuring design documents meet requirements.
• Capture best practices and identify opportunities to improve margin or reduce risk.
