Job summary

U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) in Frederick, MD seeks an Associate Production Laboratory Technician for hands-on work in the Reference Standards Production (RSP).

You will package reference standards and other USP products, configure batches, and follow strict quality protocols in a collaborative team. The position emphasizes safety, documentation, and basic troubleshooting while developing mechanical and technical expertise with production equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a physical science; four years of related work experience may substitute.
• Academic training in microbiology with exposure to aseptic techniques and handling of biological materials.
• Must use PPE and follow safety protocols.
• Must pass a pulmonary function test and be able to wear an N95 respirator.
• Immunization for Hepatitis B or vaccination series, or decline with adherence to role requirements.

Responsibilities

• Produce USP Reference Standards and Materials following USP best practices.
• Operate production-level equipment (fillers, labeling, capping/crimping).
• Document sampling using Oracle ERP and other systems.
• Support inventory and supply chain activities for production materials.
• Identify routine issues and develop basic troubleshooting.
• Contribute to safety culture and quality initiatives.
