Job summary

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Junior Knowledge Management Analyst to join NAVSEA 04 (Industrial Operations) in Washington, DC. This role supports KM environments, taxonomy design, and governance across SharePoint, ETMS2, and related platforms to enhance collaboration and information sharing among mission partners.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree, 0–3 years of KM or information management experience, a SharePoint certification, and strong communication skills to collaborate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Knowledge Management, Communications, or related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience supporting information management, collaboration platforms, or KM environments is preferred.
  • SharePoint certification.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint administration, content management, and permissions control.
  • Knowledge of Taxonomy Design Methodologies, Controlled Vocabularies and Metadata Standards, Records and Information Management Principles is preferred.
  • Strong facilitation and change-management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex organizational needs into practical taxonomy solutions.
  • Ability to organize information logically and maintain consistency in records and document libraries.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative platforms (Teams, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide KM support, including monitoring, maintenance, and access management of SEA 04 information on NMCI NIPRNET share drives.
  • Provide KM support on SEA 04 information on SIPRNET share drives.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining KM strategies to improve knowledge sharing and collaboration across NAVSEA mission areas.
  • Design, create, and govern enterprise taxonomies and metadata structures in SharePoint to improve discoverability and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain enterprise and site-level taxonomies aligned with missions, programs, and workflows.
  • Ensure taxonomies support findability, records management, reporting, and cross-site consistency.
  • Establish a taxonomy governance model with naming conventions, workflows, version control, deprecation, and archival rules.
  • Document and publish taxonomy standards and usage guidelines.
  • Administer SharePoint and related KM environments including permissions, site structure, libraries, and document control.
  • Maintain and update KM systems such as SharePoint, portals, and AAR/LL databases.
  • Support records and knowledge management per DoW, DON, and NAVSEA policies.
  • Develop virtual communities of interest to promote collaboration and capture best practices.
  • Track and report KM usage metrics to measure effectiveness of collaboration tools.
  • Coordinate with NAVSEA and SEA 04 POCs to ensure smooth information/data exchange between systems.
  • Support deployment, configuration, and customization of SharePoint sites with proper access and security.
  • Provide user assistance and basic training on KM tools and repositories.
  • Identify improvements to enhance usability and efficiency of KM environments.
  • Provide System Administrator support for SEA 04 IDE (SharePoint) and MS SharePoint Certification requirements.
  • Provide RMF validation services for SEA 04 KM sites.
