Job summary

Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center in Washington, DC is offering a full-time, seasonal Literary and Creative Connections Fellowship from September 7, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The Fellow will gain hands-on experience in script evaluation, dramaturgy, and artistic producing, while supporting community engagement and events with Theater J and the EDJCJCC teams.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate pursuing a career in literary management, dramaturgy, artistic producing, or related fields.
• Exceptional writing skills with clear, insightful written communication.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and proficiency with Word, Excel, and Office 365.

Responsibilities

• Read and evaluate new play submissions and develop high-quality script reports and dramaturgical summaries for the Artistic Director.
• Research playwrights, production histories, and relevant thematic materials.
• Assist with planning and execution of workshops, readings, and new plays productions; coordinate with playwrights, directors, actors, and staff.
• Support virtual playwright cohort sessions, prepare materials, and ensure timely action items.
• Coordinate Creative Connections planning meetings and panelist/speaker logistics for post-show engagements.
• Develop community outreach opportunities to cultivate new audiences and partnerships.
• Attend staff meetings to learn nonprofit theater communication and planning.
