Job summary

Confidential in Washington, DC seeks an early-career engineer who enjoys solving problems and building reliable, secure systems. You’ll work with experienced engineers on federal technology environments, gaining hands-on exposure to cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cybersecurity.

You’ll contribute to automation, secure software development, and learning through hands-on experience while collaborating with a team focused on initiative and accountability.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in software development, platform engineering, or operations engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and pipeline tools.
• Python scripting skills; Bash or PowerShell experience is a plus.
• Foundational knowledge of Linux, networking, APIs, and web applications.
• Exposure to Docker, AWS, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Understanding of cloud security and secure software development.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Support AWS environments, Docker containers, and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Write Python scripts to automate operational processes.
• Integrate security scanning, vulnerability management, and policy controls into delivery pipelines.
• Support NIST SP 800-53 compliance activities and automated evidence collection.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve coding and testing while validating their output.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with senior engineers.
