Job summary

Watts & Associates is seeking an Entrepreneurial Ventures Associate to join its national platform with multiple offices in Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Los Angeles, CA; and New York, NY, handling sophisticated venture financings and emerging-company transactions for founders, investors and strategic buyers.

The successful attorney will work closely with partners, take ownership of substantive matters, and gain exposure to high-value work within a collaborative, mentoring environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of substantive emerging companies and venture capital experience.
• Experience handling venture financings and emerging-company transactions.
• Strong drafting, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
• Strong academic credentials and experience in a sophisticated law-firm environment.
• Admission to the relevant jurisdiction, or eligibility to waive in promptly.

Responsibilities

• Advise emerging companies and investors on formation, governance and strategic transactions.
• Draft and negotiate financing, equity, governance and commercial documents.
• Support M&A, secondary transactions, restructurings and liquidity events.
• Manage client relationships and transaction processes with founders, boards and investors.
• Coordinate with attorneys across related practice areas and offices.
