Job summary

The Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) position at the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Small Animal Emergency Critical Care unit provides skilled nursing care for critically ill patients.   • Graduation from an accredited Veterinary Technician program and VTNE with GA LVT license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience handling animals.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Knowledge of animal anatomy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care to small animal patients in emergency services.
  • Read patient records and understand medical condition processes.
  • Perform procedures: IV/arterial catheterization, blood collection, CPR, triage.
  • Attend rounds and assist with anesthesia and surgery; document charges and patient status.
