Job summary

MedVet, a fast-growing Emergency and Specialty provider, seeks an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our clinical team. You will record rounds, prioritize patients, and collaborate with the care team to implement treatment plans and effective client communication.

You will educate clients on home care, medications, and wellness for hospitalized patients, while assisting DVMs with procedures and anesthesia, and performing in-house lab work. Our benefits accompany a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• RVT license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required, emergency experience preferred.
• Strong math and calculation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
