MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support the fast-paced ER team. You will assist in patient triage, nursing care, anesthesia and routine laboratory work, while communicating clearly with clients and teammates to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires a Veterinary Technician license preference and prior veterinary experience, with flexibility for variable hours.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, conversions).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and triage based on assessment.
• Collaborate with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and wellness for hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation as needed.
• Perform in-house and prepare samples for outside lab testing.
