Job summary

PetVet Care Centers Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital in Plains, Pennsylvania, is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced hospital team. You will provide high-quality veterinary care, nursing support, and patient management across examinations, diagnostics, and surgeries.

The role demands strong technical skills, compassion for animals and families, and the ability to work collaboratively in a busy Emergency/Referral setting.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or LVMT.
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
• This is a strenuous job with lifting, cleaning, and constant motion; may involve climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Some tasks involve lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds).

Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, reviewing care plans and records, and performing diagnostic imaging.
• Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, and managing wounds.
• Assist with examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, and restraining as directed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain patient medical records and communicate with pet owners under veterinary guidance.
• Maintain sterile instruments and equipment; ensure proper storage and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Release pets to owners and ensure proper grooming prior to release.
